MoMA garden disco floor - installation

We collaborated with visual artist Piotr Uklanski for this installation at the Museum of Modern Art. The Disco Floor was installed in one of the rear yard pools, constructed flush with the surrounding stone surfaces. The lighting is organized on several channels that react to the sound of foot fall or music.

The structure is a simple adaptation of a raised computer floor supporting a plexiglass layer with various colored gels laminated to its underside. Exterior lamps are mounted to the bottom of the pool, and aluminum conical shades shape the light to each separate colored panel of the floor.
