endo - installation the dthe theater

42nd street new york, ny 10010 2 0 0 3

Endo is an assemblage of surfaces arranged in such a vertical panels are suspended from the ceiling, never resting agaisnt one another, implying cast shadows that are as architectural as the suspended panels. This resulting geometry appears, disappears, and moves throughout the arc of the presentation.

Endo is a dialogue involving material, movement, and perception that centers on the phenomenology of “in-ness.” The physical manifestation of this idea was achieved by running the materials over and under the audience seating, placing the viewer in the environment. In collaboration with choreographer Mark Jarecke, fashion designer Lisa Lee, video artist Sean Brown, and lighting designer Michael Gottlieb.
